We Stock Most Classic Automotive Body Panels!
Automotive body panels do more than contribute to the aesthetics of your vehicle. As a harmonious construction of uniquely shaped sections (usually of steel), they cover and protect your car, its interior systems and the passengers inside it. If one panel needs replacing, it’s better to take care of it sooner rather than later to prevent a minor issue from becoming a more significant one (such as flying off down the street).
If a panel is damaged and you’re unsure whether it needs replacing or if it can be repaired, it is recommended to speak to a smash repair body shop or a panel beater. Sometimes, the damage you can see will not tell the entire story, and structural damage may not be obvious to the untrained eye.
Whether it’s a project restoration or your daily driver, damaged or rusted panels can ruin a vehicle’s appearance and significantly impact its valuation. Fortunately, with a comprehensive range of over 8000 renovation and restoration products, Rare Parts has all types of panels available
Rust Panels
Rust can work itself throughout a classic car, and you may not even notice it until you remove the interior trims, mouldings and carpets. We offer brand new steel replacement rust panels for all areas of the vehicle, including quarter panels, floor pans, and boot pans.
More modern vehicles generally have steel body panels, often with an aluminium hood. Most cars have around six to twelve panels in total.
Quarter Panels/Fenders
Sitting between the rear door and the boot, quarter panels provide significant support for the structure of your chassis and are therefore an integral component of your vehicle.
At the front of the vehicle, between the door and the bonnet, is the fender or guard. Classic vehicles have a dedicated fender, while in more modern cars it is sometimes also referred to as a quarter panel.
Rocker Panels
Rocker panels, also known as sill panels, run along the side of the car and sit between the front and rear wheel wells. They help to ensure the cabin of the car does not twist or deform and play a vital role – especially in case of an accident.
Floor pans, boot pans and rocker panels are exposed to the elements and often damaged from road wear and tear, like stone chips. Sitting under your feet means they may be damaged without you knowing it, but if caught earlier, may be more cost-effective to repair than replace.
Bonnet
The bonnet, or hood, is one of the largest panels on your vehicle and can be a sorry sight when it’s damaged. Hail, front-end collisions and falling tree branches are all common culprits for bonnet damage. Protecting your engine bay means that any serious damage to your bonnet should be thoroughly investigated by a professional.
Door Skins and Panels
If damage occurs to a door panel, the door skin is the outermost metal layer, while a door shell consists of the skin and the door frame itself. Modern vehicles often have contours and stylings that make the replacement of door skins a more complicated process.
